Paris Saint-Germain will continue their defence of the Ligue 1 title this Saturday when they welcome Nice to Parc des Princes in the ninth round of the 2022/23 Ligue 1 season.
Venue: Parc des Princes (Paris)
Paris Saint-Germain are unbeaten in their last 20 competitive games (W16, D4).
They have won their last six games, keeping four clean sheets.
The hosts are unbeaten in their last 25 league games at home (W21, D4).
Nice are unbeaten in their last three away games in all competitions (W2, D1).
Each of the three away goals Nice have conceded in Ligue 1 this season came within the first 20 minutes.
They have recorded only one clean sheet in their last seven games.
Head to head
PSG have failed to score in each of their last three meetings with Nice. But over the last ten head-to-head meetings between both sides, the Parisians have six wins while Nice have just one win (D3).
Latest performances in all competitions
Paris Saint Germain return to the domestic League with their unbeaten tag still intact. The Paris-based outfit are one of the few teams that have yet to taste defeat in all competitions across Europe’s top five Leagues.
However, Christophe Galtier’s side have the best goals record than their counterparts in the other Leagues, with 26 goals in just seven games, thanks to a star-studded attacking trident which boasts of Neymar, Mbappe and Lionel Messi, the latter who seems to have found his swagger after struggling last year.
After masterminding three games without defeat against PSG while in charge of Nice, Christophe Galtier will be looking to go clear at the top with yet another dominant win against his former employers who sit in 13th place in the Ligue 1 tables.
With the likes of Neymar, Mbappe and Messi continuing their impressive start to the season while on international duties, PSG will be glad to have their talismanic trident back in one piece and still firing on all cylinders when they welcome Nice to the Parc des Princes.
Possible PSG starting line-up
Gianluigi Donnarumma; Danilo Pereira, Sergio Ramos, Marquinhos; Achraf Hakimi, Vitinha, Fabian Ruiz, Nuno Mendes; Lionel Messi; Kylian Mbappe, Neymar.
Injured: Presnel Kimpembe, Renato Sanches, Timothee Pemble
Suspended: Marco Verratti
Nice travel to Paris with just two wins from eight games and one in their last five.
Les Aiglons have struggled to replicate their great achievement last season no thanks to a change of managers and now travel to take on the most in-form team in the division.
Lucien Favre was brought in to replace Christophe Galtier and the Swiss coach has not been able to replicate the success of the former coach who took Nice to a fifth-place finish and the Coupe De France final in his first season.
However, Nice have enjoyed great success against the French Champions in recent times with three straight games without defeat including two back-to-back victories since December 2021. But such results will count for little when they come up against the brain behind those results.
The onus will be on Lucien Favre more than ever before to continue the run of good results against the French Champions, but with an in-form attacking trident who have so far formed lethal chemistry, the Swiss coach and his boys face a big task.
Possible Nice starting line-up
Kasper Schmeichel; Jordan Lotomba, Dante, Mattia Viti, Melvin Bard; Nicolas Pepe, Mario Lemina Thuram-Ulien, Sofiane Diop; Gaetan Laborde, Andy Delort.
Injured: Aaron Ramsey, Rares Ilie
Suspended: Jean-Claire Todibo
