USA

The United States will look to get back to winning ways on Wednesday when they take on lowly Honduras in the eleventh round of the World Cup qualifiers.

The hosts’ chances of booking an automatic place in the tournament was dealt a huge blow last weekend when they were beaten 2-0 by their close neighbours Canada.

In an entertaining affair at the Tim Hortons Field, Canada took their chances against the USMNT, taking an early lead through the in-form Cyle Larin in the seventh minute.

Despite the USA seeing more of the ball, they could not truly trouble Milan Borjan in the Canada goal, leaving Sam Adekugbe the chance to seal the game for Canada in the 95th minute.

With that loss, USA come into this tie sitting in second place, four points behind Canada and level on points with third-place Mexico with four games left to play.

Overall, their chances of securing an automatic spot remain high given their record in recent times. They face a Honduran side who are yet to win any of their WCQ games and will fancy their chances of taking home maximum points from this game.

Possible USA starting line-ups

Matt Turner; Antonee Robinson, Miles Robinson, Walker Zimmerman, Reggie Cannon; Weston McKennie, Kelly Acosta, Yunus Musah; Christian Pulisic, Ricardo Pepi, Timothy Weah.

Injured: Tyler Adams, Chris Richards

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None

Honduras

Honduras’ woeful run in the World Cup qualifiers continued with a 2-0 loss to El Salvador on Sunday.

The loss was their seventh loss in this World Cup campaign and keeps the visitors rooted at the bottom of the table.

They travel to Minnesota without a goal in their last two games and without a chance of winning this game given their record against the USA.

The last time Honduras won a game was in July against Panama in the Gold Cup. Since then they have played 13 games and lost ten (D3) in that period.

Anything short of a loss in this game will be a miracle.

Possible Honduras starting line-ups

Edrick Menjivar; Wisdom Quaye, Allans Vargas, Denil Maldonado, Maynor Figueroa; Kevin Lopez, Kevin Arriaga, Alfredo Mejia, Jonathan Toro, Brayan Moya; Bryan Rochez.

Injured: None

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None

Prediction
