Timo Werner inspires Germany to a comfortable 3-1 win over Ukraine

Timo Werner-Germany

Germany picked up a 3-1 win over Ukraine in the UEFA Nations League earlier tonight.

The  away side took the lead on the 12th minute through Roman Yaremchuk.

Germany got back into the game 10 minutes later through Leroy Sane and then Chelsea striker Timo Werner scored twice either side of half time to secure a comfortable win for the home team.

Leon Goretzka produced an outstanding display in the midfield for Germany and he created two goals for the winning side. The Bayern ace has been in good form this year.

Joachim Low will be delighted with his team’s performance tonight and it will be interesting to see if Germany can continue to build on this.

Tonight’s win takes Germany to the top of their table with nine points from five matches.

They have won just two of their last five games in the UEFA Nations League and they will be hoping that they can put together a winning run after tonight.

Meanwhile, Ukraine are third in the group with six points from five matches and they will be desperate to bounce back with a win in their next outing.

The away side have lost three of their last four matches and the fans will be expecting a better performance in the coming months.

Ukraine have been very poor at the back and they have conceded ten goals in their five group games. They will have to tighten up if they want to climb up the table.
