Ballack: It’s a good for both Timo Werner and Chelsea

Leipzig 5-0 Mainz - Werner hat-trick buried Mainz

Germany international Timo Werner is expected to join Chelsea this summer.

The Leipzig forward has a €60m release clause and the Blues are reportedly ready to pay that.

It will be interesting to see if the two clubs can finalise the move soon. Recently, the Leipzig chief claimed that the deal is not done yet and Chelsea have not paid the player’s release clause.

The English media seem to believe that it is only a matter of time and Werner will play for Chelsea next season.

Former Chelsea midfielder and Germany captain Michael Ballack has heaped praise on the young forward. He also revealed that Werner should make a big difference to Chelsea’s squad and he will improve them.

The German striker will suit Chelsea’s playing style and Ballack thinks he will be a success at Stamford Bridge.

Ballack said: “I think it’s a good decision for both sides. For Timo, because he fits there, because the way [Chelsea] play football suits him. I think that in Chelsea he has decided on a club where he has a better chance of playing, which is very important to him.

The team will be renewed, it will certainly be strengthened and a lot of money will be spent in Chelsea to knock again at the top. A good young team is being built there, which is very promising

That is the biggest difference in England that there is less whistling [from referees], especially for strikers. He has to get used to it quickly because that’s the point. He is a robust player, is very fast, but he is also physically good in a duel and he will quickly get used to it.”

It will be interesting to see how Werner performs in the Premier League next season.

Chelsea fans will expect him to deliver instantly because of his price.

Werner has done well in Germany and he has the quality to shine in the Premier League as well.
