Bayern 1-4 Hoffenheim Defending champions given reality check by host

The Champions League winners were humbled at Rhein- Neckar Arena.

Bayern Munich saw their winning spree come to an halt after suffering a shock defeat against Hoffenheim.

The defending Champions were humbled by Sebastien Hoeness’ side in the away fixture.

Bickakcic scored the opening goal before Munas Dabut doubled the lead before the half hour mark.

Bayern’s Josua Kimmich pulled one back to give the momentum before going to the second half.

Robert Lewandowski, who started on the bench, was brought after the break but only to little or no effect.

Andre Kramaric went on to pile on Bayern’s pain as the Croatian scored a brace to put the game to bed.

Manuel Neuer was once again humongous with his crucial saves but that wasn’t enough for the Champions League winners.

Leroy Sane was dormant throughout the game as his chances went begging.

The result would be quite a surprise given Bayern’s extravagant form and especially the start they had to this season.

Meanwhile, Hansi Flick, a manager who strives for perfection, would take the failure as a wake-up call.

Hoffenheim have jumped to the top of the table for the time being after winning back to back games in Bundesliga.

A lacklustre defence was one of the downfalls for the Bavarians in the game which Hoffenheim didn’t fail to pounce on.

The defeat marks Bayern’s first after 32 games in all competitions.

Flick has reflected on the defeat while heaping praises on Hoffenheim.

“It was clear that the time would come at some point.  Huge compliments to Hoffenheim and also to Sebastian Hoeneß.  I don’t blame it all on fatigue. We didn’t manage to create many good chances. Congratulations to Hoffenheim, they were very good today.”
