Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich will look to retain their place at the top of the table when they welcome second-placed Borussia Monchengladbach to Allianz Arena this weekend.

The hosts have stormed to the top of the table of the league after winning their opening three games of the campaign with an aggregate scoreline of 15-1.

Their last outing which was a 7-0 demolition of Bochum saw them set several records as well as becoming the first team to have a 14+ goal difference after three games of the season.

Their early form suggests that they are ready to win their eleventh straight title this year. Given that six of their last seven league games have witnessed at least four goals and both teams scoring in five of those, another entertaining outing can be expected when they welcome a Gladbach side that have troubled them the most of all Bundesliga teams in the past eleven years.

The Bavarians have lost nine times in their last 22 meetings against Gladbach (W9, D4) and so will have to be in their best shape to get a good result against Daniel Farke’s resurgent side.

Possible Bayern Munich starting line-up

Manuel Neuer; Benjamin Pavard, Dayot Upamecano, Matthijs de Ligt, Alphonso Davies; Joshua Kimmich, Marcel Sabitzer, Thomas Muller, Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala; Sadio Mane.

Injured: Leon Goretzka

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None

Borussia Monchengladbach

Gladbach under former Norwich manager Daniel Farke have cough many by surprise.

The visitors come into this tie as one of the six teams yet to taste defeat in the Bundesliga this season.

The Foals began their season with a 9-1 DFB Cup first-round drubbing of minnows Oberachern, before beating Hoffenheim 3-2, narrowly drawing 2-2 with promoted Schalke and most recently edging Hertha Berlin 1-0.

With seven points from three games and a healthy goal difference, they come into this tie as Bayern’s closest challengers as they are sitting in second place.

Farke will now be hoping that he can guide his side to an unlikely win that will take Gladbach to the top of the table.

For a team that only won four league games on the road last season (D5, L8), such a feat will be a huge miracle.

But given that they are unbeaten in their last five away from home (W2, D3) while scoring the opening goal in four of those fixtures, there may be a belief that they can extend their unbeaten run against Bayern to four (W2, D1).

Possible Borussia Monchengladbach starting line-up

Yann Sommer; Joe Scally, Ko Itakura, Nico Elvedi, Ramy Bensebaini, Christoph Kramer, Manu Kone, Jonas Hofmann, Florian Neuhaus, Marcus Thuram, Alassane Plea.

Injured: None

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None
