CIES has compiled the Premier League’s best playing 11 of this season with some surprise calls.

CIES has managed to sort out the best playing 11 of the Premier League this season and you will be rocked to see some surprise inclusions.

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has made the cut and there was no room for Man City duo Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden.

It was quite shocking to see Xhaka being recognised above the likes of De Bruyne and Foden as the Swiss midfielder endured a lacklustre campaign with the Gunners. Elsewhere, De Bruyne and Foden were instrumental to Citizens winning the Premier League title this season, but they were not named in the squad that is based on Opta’s statistics across the progression of the Premier League campaign.

It doesn’t stop there as Raheem Sterling has been chosen above Liverpool star man Mohamed Salah, who is the top scorer of the Reds this season and also the second overall in the English top-flight.

Unlike the previous seasons, Sterling has undergone a lot of hardships as his inconsistency made him lose his place in Guardiola’s starting 11.

Besides Sterling, there are four other Man City players on the list: Goalkeeper Ederson, Rodri, Joao Cancelo and Ruben Dias.

CIES has chosen Manchester United’s Victor Lindelof as the centre-pairing for Dias, while the Red Devils midfielder Bruno Fernandes has also made the cut.

Chelsea’s talented midfielder Mason Mount and Liverpool’s Robertson are also included. Tottenham striker Harry, also the winner of Premier League Golden boot this season, is the chosen No.9 of CIES.
