Bayern Munich will kick start their new season against Schalke FC.

Bayern Munich will begin their Bundesliga title defence against Schalke in the season opener. 

The Bavarians are coming off a spectacular season, which saw them win a continental treble under Hansi Flick.

Bayern Munich

Hansi Flick will be without Thiago Alcantara – who has decided to move to Liverpool – and Kingsley Coman, who is under quarantine, for the game against Schalke FC.

Leroy Sane is expected to make his debut against the club he was brought up at. The German completed his move to Allianz Arena on a 45m pounds move from Manchester City.

Niklas Sule will start over his compatriot Jerome Boateng in the defence, confirmed by the manager himself.

Joshua Kimmish would fill the void of Thiago while paving the way for Benjamin Pavard in the right-back slot.

Schalke FC

Schalke would look to avenge their lacklustre last season, which saw them go without any wins since January. David Wagner’s men were also not at their best in the pre-season camp. 

Vedad Ibisevic could be handed his debut against the Bavarians while Mark Uth and Sebastian Rudy have returned from loan.
