Dortmund 2-2 Hoffenheim: Haaland saves Dortmund’s blushes

Borussia Dortmund

The Black and Yellow avoided a second straight defeat with a late equaliser from Erling Haaland.

Borussia Dortmund scrapped a 2-2 against Hoffenheim after Erling Haaland scored a late equaliser.

Hoffenheim’s attack caused more problems to the home side, Ighlas Bebou in particular, as the Togolese striker forced a save from Marvin Hitz and side netted a brilliant chance later.

Despite the troubles, Dortmund drew first blood through Jadon Sancho‘s strike before it was shortly cancelled out by Hoffenheim striker Mu’nas Dabbur, who slotted the ball past Ritz after an assist from Sebastian Rudy.

Hoffenheim didn’t let the pressure of Dortmund and they doubled their lead in the 51st minute, with Bebou, the best player on the field in the first half, finally getting his reward.

The visitors had more chances to put the game beyond Dortmund’s reach, but that wasn’t the case.

Die Borussen spoiled Hoffenheim’s party as Erling Haaland scored a later equaliser to share the spoils.

Although unconvincing as it could be, Dortmund were happy to earn a draw after suffering a defeat in their previous Bundesliga game against Freiburg.

Dortmund manager Edin Terzic, who has been off to a stuttering start, must have breathed a sigh of relief after the result.

Haaland has been inconsistent in his goalscoring form since returning from injury but today’s strike could have handed him enough confidence going forward. Furthermore, the Norwegian striker takes his league tally to 16 in 15 games he has played so far this season.

Dortmund are up against Sevilla in the Champions League’s round of 16 game next week.
