PSG 2-1 Nice: Moise Kean grabs late winner for PSG

Moise Kean-PSG

The Italian striker scored in the final quarter to edge out OGC Nice.

PSG edged out OGC Nice in a rather exciting Ligue 1 contest as Moise Kean grabbed the late winning goal.

The home side broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute as Thilo Kehrer’s cross found Mauro Icardi, who hit the post before it was turned into the nets by Julian Draxler on the rebound. The German has been impressive of late, making his contributions count in the wins for PSG.

Paris Saint-Germain could have doubled the lead when Kylian Mbappe was presented with a great chance after a precise long ball from Leandro Paredes. However, the French forward made a complete mess of his strike. At the other end, Nice experienced a similar situation when Amine Gouiri miscued a volley right before the half time.

Nice had a great start to the second half as they found the equaliser through the thunderous strike of Roney Lopes, who caught PSG’s defence napping. They were unfortunate to go upfront after Gouiri’s strike hit the frame of the post.

As the final quarter approached, Kean netted the header from Icardi’s delightful assist as PSG were able to end the game by grabbing three points.

The win also could be morale-boosting for Mauricio Pochettino’s men ahead of the Barcelona clash as they were successful even in the absence of Neymar, Angel di Maria and Marco Verratti.

Les Parisiens will visit the Nou Camp next week for the Champions League round of 16 encounter against Barcelona.
