Borussia Dortmund chief Joachim Watzke has weighed in on transfer speculations surrounding star striker Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian striker, who has been in sublime form for Dortmund this Bundesliga season, continues to be the subject of the transfer interest of Europe’s top clubs.

With many European giants in the mix, Watzke claims that Haaland could prefer a move to Real Madrid due to his admiration towards the Spanish giants.

Watzke said (h/t Sportbible): “He is an independent personality. Anyway, at some point, he will play for one of the best clubs in the world, although he is already playing for one of the best clubs in the world.

“But I know, of course, that Real Madrid seduces him.”

The 21-year-old’s 68m pounds release clause is set to become active next summer and there is less chance for Dortmund to keep him for another season.

Manchester City, United, Bayern Munich and even cash-strapped Barcelona are understood to be in the race for Haaland.

Watzke worried about Sancho’s struggles to Old Trafford

Jadon Sancho’s start to life at Old Trafford hasn’t gone as planned so far as he is struggling to fit in at Manchester United.

The highly-coveted English winger sealed a much-anticipated transfer from Dortmund to Old Trafford in the summer transfer window.

Die Borussen chief Watzke feels that Sancho is being treated with less importance at United.

Watkze said: “I love Jadon. When you see him playing you get tears in your eyes. It hurts my soul that he is given so little consideration. I think his problem is that he’s not set in the English national team.”
