Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher suffered a brutal snub from the Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo prior to the clash between the two North-West giants in the Premier League yesterday.

Ronaldo intentionally skipped a handshake with Carragher after the warm-up before the game. The Portuguese star went on to acknowledge the likes of Gary Neville and Roy Keane instead.

The former Manchester United legends were on punditry duties along with Carragher.

Ronaldo’s actions sparked a major reaction on social media and the former Liverpool ace was trolled by rival fans.

Many believe that Carragher’s public criticism of Ronaldo in the media prompted the Manchester United star to skip the handshake last night.

Meanwhile, Ferdinand took the opportunity to take a swipe at the former Premier League defender as well. He remarked that Ronaldo made a mockery of him just like he did on the pitch while playing against Liverpool in the past.

Ronaldo was on the bench for the high-profile clash against the Reds yesterday after Erik Ten Hag opted for a relatively young attack for the game. Manchester United ended up winning the game 2-1 thanks to goals from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford.

Mohamed Salah did well to bring Liverpool back into the game late on with a goal on the 81st minute but Liverpool were toothless for most of the game and they were deservedly beaten in the end.
