Fischer’s name always brings back the memory of the spectacular overhead kick he scored in the 1982 World Cup for West Germany against France. Representing over four clubs in his nothing short of a great career, Fischer is second behind Muller in the all-time top scorers’ list. His best years were with Schalke FC.
Robert Lewandowski
The only active player in the list and arguably the best striker in football at the moment, Robert Lewandowski has the tendency to break the record of Muller if keeps scoring at the current rate. The Polish striker continues to be the focal point of Bayern Munich’s attack and his numbers are just astonishing this season – 37 goals in all competitions. Lewandowski is way ahead of all the prolific players in Europe and has the better chance to land the Ballon d’Or award this year.
Jupp Heynckes
Jupp Heynckes is best remembered for winning the treble with Bayern Munich in the 2012-13 season. But, he was equally prolific in his playing career, being part of Borussia Monchengladbach’s golden era in the ’70s winning a handful of Bundesliga titles. He is fourth on the list with 220 goals.
