Union Berlin 0-0 Schalke: Poor finish sees the home side drop two points

Schalke a were held to a 0-0 draw against Union Berlin in the Bundesliga earlier tonight.

The away side managed to pick up a point despite being in miserable form and it will give them some confidence ahead of the upcoming matches.

Schalke were expected to succumb to another defeat on their trip to the capital but they managed to contain Union Berlin do a goalless draw.

The home side will be thoroughly disappointed with their performance and they failed to find the net from 19 attempts on goal.

Union Berlin were completely dominant from start to finish and their finishing let them down tonight.

The likes of Taiwo Awoniyi had a good chance to put the home side ahead early on in the game but his shot was saved by Ralf Fahrmann.

The Union Berlin forward had another impressive chance in the second half but he dragged his effort wide.

Schalke failed to work Loris Karius throughout the game and the on-loan Union Berlin keeper had a relatively easy time in between the sticks tonight.

Marcus Ingvartsen had the home side’s 3rd best chance of the night but his timid header was saved with ease.

Schalke are now without a win in their last 21 league away games and they will have to improve immensely if they want to beat the drop this season.

Having said that, they have now managed to stay unbeaten against Union Berlin in their last four League games.
