Roma and Tottenham crash to shock defeats in the UEFA Europa Conference League

Tottenham Hotspur and Roma crashed to shock defeats at home in the UEFA Europa conference league earlier tonight.

The Premier League side were beaten 1-0 away from home by Vitesse Arnhem thanks to a goal from Maximilian Wittek on the 78th minute.

The Londoners are already under a lot of pressure after a mediocre start to their league campaign and the defeat against Vitesse will pile further pressure on manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

The Portuguese manager decided to rest the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min for tonight’s contest and his decision has backfired massively.

It remains to be seen how the Premier League side bounce back from this in the coming weeks.

Meanwhile, Roma were dealt a crushing defeat on their travels. The Italian outfit were beaten 6-1 by Bodoe/Glimt.

After an impressive start to life under new manager Jose Mourinho, Roma have shown a worrying dip in form and the capital club will have to improve enormously in the coming weeks.

The Italians have lost four of their last seven matches across all competitions but the defeat tonight will have hurt them massively.

Roma were firm favourites heading into the contest and they have ended up conceding six goals instead of picking up all three points.

The likes of Tammy Abraham and Lorenzo Pellegrini were all on the bench tonight and Mourinho decided to bring them on around the hour mark to change the game in Roma’s favour.

However, the Italian outfit failed to produce an acceptable performance and the fans will be bitterly disappointed with tonight’s showing from the players.
