Brighton and Newcastle played out a dull 0-0 draw in the Premier League earlier today.
Graham Potter’s men will be relatively happy with the draw as it secures their Premier League status for another season.
Meanwhile, Newcastle will have expected more coming into this game. The Magpies started well after the restart but their form seems to have fizzled out now. Newcastle have struggled in their last few games and the fans will be disappointed with today’s showing as well.
The Magpies have failed to win five in a row now and Steve Bruce needs to ask serious questions about his players now.
Brighton are a weaker side compared to them and they should be winning these games.
The home side had a good chance to score in the first half when Leandro Trossard forced a low save from Newcastle goalkeeper Martin Dubravka on 28 minutes. Newcastle had their chances as well and the likes of Dwight Gayle came close for the visitors. However, their best chance of the game fell to Andy Carroll who headed wide from inside the six-yard area late on.
The draw leaves Brighton on to 38 points, seven more than 18th-placed Aston Villa. Mathematically, they are safe from relegation now. Meanwhile, Newcastle are 13th with 44 points so far.
At one point Newcastle seemed destined for a top-half finish but their current run of form has damaged the chances.
