Gareth Bale perhaps indicated that he does not see the second spell in Spurs would continue beyond current season.

Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale has revealed that he’s planning to return to Real Madrid at the end of this season.

The Premier League side have an option to sign the 31 year old permanently but it seems that the Welshman never planned on staying permanently at the London club.

Bale has revealed that the original plan was to return to Tottenham to play regular first-team football and regain his sharpness ahead of the Euros.

He said: “I think the main reason I came to Spurs this year was to play football first and foremost.

“Going into the Euros I wanted to be match-fit. The original plan was to do a season at Spurs and after the Euros still have a year left at Real Madrid. My plan is to go back, that’s as far I have planned.”

He still has one year left with the Spanish outfit on his contract and it will be interesting to see if Real Madrid decide to pay him off and terminate his deal.

Bale is no longer a key player for the Spanish giants and he is certainly not a part of Zidane’s first-team plans.

Moving on permanently would be ideal for all parties and it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds.

Bale has recently hit a purple patch with Tottenham and he has been quite impressive in recent weeks. It will be interesting to see if the Welsh international can help the London club win a trophy this season and qualify for the Champions League.
