Barcelona are looking to sign the Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen for a nominal fee this month.

According to a report from Spanish publication Sport, the Catalan giants are in advanced talks with the Denmark international regarding a move. It remains to be seen whether they can agree on a fee with the Blues.

The Spanish outfit have been interested in the defender for quite some time.

They tried to sign the Chelsea player a couple of years ago, but the Blues refused to sell him back then.

The 25-year-old is nearing the end of his contract at Stamford Bridge, and the Blues are now under pressure to sell him this month.

The report claims that Bayern Munich have submitted a bid for the player in recent weeks, and three other Premier League clubs are keen on securing his services as well.

However, Barcelona have impressive relations with the player’s representatives, and Christensen is keen on joining the Spanish club as well.

It is no secret that Barcelona need to improve their squad significantly, and signing the Chelsea defender for a reasonable price could prove to be a transfer masterstroke for them.

The Blues will not want to lose the 25-year-old on a free transfer at the end of the season, and therefore it makes sense for them to cash in on him right now.

The defender has refused to sign an extension with Chelsea, and he has rejected multiple offers from the Premier League giants.

It will be interesting to see whether the Denmark international gets his wish before the January transfer window closes.
