Ansu Fati’s contract talks with Barcelona have stalled after Jorge Mendes’ demands

Ansu Fati inspires Barcelona to a 4-0 win over Villarreal

Barcelona are looking to renew the contract of the highly talented young forward Ansu Fati.

The 18-year-old is regarded as one of the finest young talents to have come out of the La Masia Academy and he has already established himself as a key player for Ronald Koeman‘s side.

The player is currently nearing the end of his contract with the Spanish La Liga giants and Barcelona are unsurprisingly looking to tie him down to a new long term contract.

However, it appears that the player’s agent Jorge Mendes is currently insistent on a short term deal.

The Portuguese super-agent wants his client to sign a two-year contract with the La Liga giants and he is refusing to agree to a €1 billion release clause as well.

Barcelona want the player to sign a longer contract which will be heavily incentivized because of their current financial problems but Mendes wants fair compensation for his client and talks are at an impasse right now.

It will be interesting to see if the two parties can come to an agreement in the coming weeks.

Fati is one of the most talented young players around Europe right now and Barcelona simply cannot afford to lose him just yet.

The Spanish giants have already lost the likes of Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann earlier on in the summer and they will need to hold on to their best young players in order to rebuild the site in the coming months.

According to El Nacional, the Spanish outfit are planning to reward midfielder Pedri with a new contract as well.

The talented young Spaniard has been a key player for club and country over the past year and he has been ever-present for Ronald Koeman and Luis Enrique.

Both Fati and Pedri are prodigiously talented and Barcelona must do everything in their power to sort out their long term futures at Camp Nou.
