Liverpool News: Thiago ranked as the club’s top performer in 2021, Odegaard pursuit

Liverpool sweep Chelsea aside as Thiago sets passing record in 2-0 win

Thiago ranked as Liverpool’s best performer in 2021

Liverpool midfielder Thiago Alcantara has been ranked as the club’s best player of 2021 by the CIES football observatory.

The Spaniard has been criticized for his performances from time to time but there is no doubting that Thiago has been outstanding in quite a few matches for the Reds.

The injuries to other players have caused an imbalance in the Liverpool midfield and the Spaniard has struggled because of that from time to time just like any other player at the club.

However, the CIES football observatory has ranked him 6th in the list of standout performers for the first quarter of 2021, across Europe.

Barcelona superstar Messi clinched the top spot unsurprisingly and Chelsea midfielder Jorginho was also a part of the list.

Thiago is a world-class player who has proven himself at Barcelona and Bayern Munich over the years and he will be hoping to have a similar impact at Anfield now.

Odegaard interest

Meanwhile, the Reds are thought to be interested in adding more creativity to their midfield and they are looking to sign the Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard.

The 22-year-old has impressed during his loan spell at Arsenal the season and he could cost around £50 million this summer.

The Reds have been missing a specialist creator since the departure of Philippe Coutinho and Odegaard could be a quality addition to Jurgen Klopp’s midfield.

The Norwegian had a trial at Liverpool before his move to Real Madrid and it will be interesting to see if the Reds can secure his services in the summer.
