Barcelona agree deal to sign Carlos Soler as Frenkie de Jong replacement

Carlos Soler-Valencia

Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has been linked with a move away from the Spanish club this summer, and it appears that the Catalan giants are already looking at replacements.

According to a report via Barca Universal, Barcelona have now agreed on a 20 million euro deal to bring Carlos Soler to the club from Valencia.

Soler is highly regarded in the Spanish league and could be a quality long-term addition to the Barcelona midfield.

The 25-year-old scored 12 goals and picked up 5 assists across all competitions last season, and it will be interesting to see if he can adapt to Barcelona’s style of play and make an immediate impact next season.

Barcelona needed to add some goals to their midfield alongside Pedri and Gavi. Soler will add a new dimension to the side.

Meanwhile, De Jong has been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Manchester United reported as the prime candidate for his signature.

It will be interesting to see if the Red Devils can secure his services before the new season begins.

Manchester United have submitted a verbal bid for the player, and Barcelona are demanding a complete package worth around 85 million euros.

The midfielder is yet to agree on personal terms with the club. But that should be sorted once an agreement is finalised between the two clubs.

Barcelona are going through a bit of a financial crisis right now, and they need to sell some players to balance the books.

At the moment, it seems like De Jong is the one who can provide the club with some financial respite.
