Barcelona could look to sign Bruno Fernandes if they fail to sign Erling Haaland

Fernandez sent Man United to semis from extra-time penalty

Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes could be a target for Barcelona at the end of this season.

According to a report from Daily Mail, the Spanish giants will look to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund as their marquee signing at the end of this season, but they could move for the Portuguese midfielder instead if they fail to land the 21-year-old striker.

The 27-year-old Manchester United midfielder has been in exceptional form since joining the club, and he has developed into one of the best players across Europe.

Barcelona have recently signed Ferran Torres from Manchester City, and signing a top-class midfielder would be ideal for them in the summer.

There is no doubt that Haaland would be an exceptional acquisition for the Spanish club, and the 21-year-old would certainly improve them in the final third.

Haaland has a release clause of around £64 million, and it remains to be seen whether Barcelona can afford to cough up that kind of money for the Dortmund striker.

The Spanish giants are in a financial crisis right now, and they have had to cash in on players like Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann.

Earlier in the week, club president Joan Laporta claimed that clubs across the world should be prepared as Barcelona are now back as the big players in the transfer market.

It will be interesting to see whether Laporta can deliver on his promise and bring in a top-class player during the summer transfer window.

Fernandes has a long term contract at Manchester United, and he could be a more expensive target compared to Haaland because the Portuguese midfielder does not have any release clause in his contract.

The 27-year-old has scored 45 goals and picked up 34 assists in just 105 appearances for Manchester United, and the Red Devils will not want to lose him anytime soon.
