The Italian legend has launched a scathing attack on Manchester United ace Cristiano Ronaldo.

Italian legend and former Real Madrid star Antonio Cassano has claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo will never make it to the top five footballers of all time.

Ronaldo sealed a sensational return to Manchester United in the summer and he also made an immediate impact by scoring a double against Newcastle United in his first game.

However, he has been dried up of goals in the last three Premier League games, which also coincides with United’s poor form of late.

Nonetheless, the Portuguese superstar has been included in the 30-man shortlist for the Ballon d’Or and his agent Jorge Mendes also tipped him to win the award.

Now, Cassano has responded to Mendes’ comments, claiming that Ronaldo is not even in the top-five list of the greatest footballers of all time.

According to Italian legend, Pele, Maradona, Lionel Messi, Johan Cryuff and Ronaldo Nazario are the best footballers in history.

Cassano said (h/t The Daily Mail): “Enough theatre (from Jorge Mendes). Is Cristiano Ronaldo the best in the history of football? He is not even in the top five.

“Messi, Pele, Maradona, Cruyff and Ronaldo are on another level.”

Former Man Utd manager Sir Alex Ferguson has recently backed Ronaldo to win this year’s Ballon d’Or as he believes the 36-year-old has broken multiple records.

Messi, Robert Lewandowski and Jorginho are said to be the favourites to lift the Ballon d’Or award.

Ronaldo enjoyed a great goal scoring run at Juventus last teen but he failed to inspire the Turin giants to any significant trophy.
