Egyptian international Mohamed Salah has been linked with a move away from Liverpool for months now.
The winger has one year left on his current contract with the Reds and the two parties have not been able to agree on a contract extension so far.
As things stand, Salah is set to leave Liverpool on a free transfer next summer and he could end up joining Barcelona.
Apparently, the player was open to extending his contract at Merseyside but he has now performed a U-turn after the Spanish La Liga club promised him that they would make a move for him next summer.
As per Mirror, Salah has already informed his close friends of his decision.
Salah has been an exceptional player for Liverpool since joining the club and he would be an outstanding signing for Barcelona if they managed to pull it off.
The Egyptian is likely to cost considerable money this summer and therefore it is wise of Barcelona to plan a move for him next year.
Salah will be a free agent and Barcelona will be able to sign him up on a bargain.
The Egyptian is undoubtedly the best player in the Premier League alongside Kevin de Bruyne and losing him would be a major blow for Liverpool.
It will be interesting to see whether the Reds can bring in a quality replacement before letting the Egyptian leave next summer.
Star winger Sadio Mane is expected to leave Liverpool this summer with Bayern Munich reported as a potential destination. It remains to be seen whether the Reds can cope with the loss of two world-class players in back to back seasons.
