Manchester United striker Cavani dreaming of Barcelona transfer
Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani wants to leave Old Trafford next summer and join Barcelona, reports the Times via Barca Blaugranes.
The Uruguayan striker agreed to a one-year extension with the Red Devils last summer after being prolific during the final half of last season.
However, he has fallen down the pecking order of the Red Devils this season due to injuries and the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Cavani is now willing to join the Catalan giants on a free transfer next summer.
The cash-strapped Barca acquired the likes of Memphis Depay, Eric Garcia and Sergio Aguero on free transfers last summer and they could repeat the same trick with Cavani.
Furthermore, the Catalan giants are deprived of striker options following injuries to Martin Braithwaite and Aguero. In addition, Luuk de Jong hasn’t impressed at the Nou Camp this season.
Cavani would bring a lot of experience to the table and he has proved his worth in leagues like Serie A and Ligue 1.
However, it remains to be seen whether he can adapt to Xavi’s system and stay fit enough to be a long term option for the Catalans.
Barca have also identified Arthur Cabral ( Basel) and Karim Adeyemi ( Salzburg) as potential targets for the next no.9.
Coutinho handed an ultimatum by Xavi
Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho has a month to convince new manager Xavi, according to Football Espana.
The Brazilian is hoping to turn his fortunes around under the Spaniard and looks to build on the impressive display against Villarreal last week.
