Eden Hazard breaks scoring drought as Real Madrid thrash Huesca 4-1

Karim Benzema-Eden Hazard-Real Madrid

The Belgian has scored on his first appearance of this season.

Real Madrid have cruised to 4-1 win against Huesca at the home fixture in La Liga.

Eden Hazard, who made his first appearance this season, opened the account for the home side in the 40th minute after a brilliant left-footed finish.

Karim Benzema doubled the lead at the stroke of the first half. The Frenchman found himself at the end of Dani Carvajal’s cross before finding the nets with a controlled first touch.

Los Blancos dominated the second half as well, with Federico Valverde scoring the third goal. The 22-year-old was left unmarked in the box before he fired in a low drilled effort to find the nets. The Uruguayan midfielder continued his brilliant form from El Classico as he has scored in the last two league fixtures.

Huesca pulled one back, meaning there won’t be a clean sheet for Thibaut Courtois, with the help of Ferreiro in the 74th minute. However, Madrid restored the three-goal lead in the stoppage time when Benzema completed his brace.

The French striker could have added a hat-trick to his name when he botched an easy chance from the pass of Vinicius Jr.

It was a complete performance from the defending champions to erase their recent substandard games against Cadiz, Shakhtar and Borussia Monchengladbach.

Hazard returning to fold would be welcome news for Zinedine Zidane and also will add depth to Madrid’s attack. The win also takes Los Blancos to the top of the table with 16 points.
