The Uruguayan striker has been in impressive goal-scoring form this season.
Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez scored his 14th goal of this season in La Liga against Cadiz, in which Los Rojiblancos won the game 4-2 and Suarez also completed a double.
In doing so, the Uruguayan has matched the tally of former Atletico striker Radamel Falcao, i.e 14 goals in 16 appearances in the debut season.
Falcao had a successful career at Atletico, winning Europa League, UEFA Super Cup and a Copa del Rey title.
However, the Colombian failed to win the top scorer award during his two-year spell at Atletico but Suarez is on course to beat the record.
The former Liverpool striker is currently topping the scoring charts and if he manages to win the Pichichi he will become the second player from Atletico to achieve the feat after Diego Forlan did it in 2009.
Suarez has previously won the Pichichi in 2015/16 during his time at 5 and it was also the season where he bettered the record Lionel Messi.
The situation is also quite similar this term as Messi is trailing Suarez by 2 goals in the La Liga’s Golden Boot race.
The Uruguayan moved to Wanda Metropolitano in the summer and he has since helped Atletico to become the table leaders of La Liga, ten points clear off second-placed Barca.
It remains to be seen whether Diego Simeone’s Atletico would continue their consistency till the end of this season and be able to have a crack at the La Liga for the second time under the Argentine gaffer.
