Paco Alcaser-Villarreal

Goals from Alcacer and Parejo helps Yellow Submarine pick up three points.

Villarreal have edged out Valencia 2-1 at home, with Paco Alcacer and Dani Parejo finding the scoresheet.

The hosts had their early lead after Gabriel Paulista conceded a penalty, which was then converted successfully by Paco Alcacer.

Villarreal were the far superior side in the first half however Valencia responded with an equalizer.

Goncalo Guedes scored a screamer – which he has done quite a few times in the past – after Carlos Soler rolled the ball into his feet.

Unai Emery’s side gained a foothold as the game wore on and Dani Parejo came up with the second goal, which was perhaps a screamer. As expected, Parejo decided not to celebrate against his former club.

The goal turned out to be the final one of the game as Valencia were left clueless by the hosts.

However, on a negative note, Takefusa Kubo was sent off in the eleventh hour after accumulating two yellow cards.

Emery has guided his side to a win and a draw in the last two games after a huge defeat against Barcelona. Today’s win has also steered Villarreal to the top of the table for the time being.

Meanwhile, Valencia have now failed to win their last games, the previous defeat was against Real Betis.

Los Che started the season on a high note, winning their first game against Levante 4 – 2.

Javi Gracia will be a man under pressure after what looks an unimpressive start to his managerial life at Valencia.
