Vinicius rescues Real Madrid, as host beat Vallodolid 1-0

Vinicius Junior-Real Madrid

Vincius Jr comes off the bench to inspire Los Blancos to 1-0 win.

Real Madrid have picked up a narrow win against Vallodolid at Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium.

Both the sides were goalless in the first half although they had a fair share of chances. Luka Jovic missed his chance after a square off from Federico Valverde. Meanwhile, the visitors had a chance to pounce on the counter only for Oscar Plano to spurn it.

Vallodolid looked more intense in the second half but their striker Weismann failed to capitalize on the one-on-one against Thibaut Courtois, who made a stunning save.

Minutes later, Vinicius Jr, who came off the bench to replace Jovic, broke the deadlock to put his side ahead.

Nonetheless, Vallodolid kept Los Blancos at their toes, but their chances went begging due to the inefficiency in the final third.

Luka Modric then had a great chance to seal the win after a silly giveaway from Roberto Jimenez however the Croatian’s effort hit the crossbar miserably.

Seconds before the full-time whistle, Vinicius had the chance to double up his tally after bursting with pace on the counter-attack, but his weak final touch prevented it.

Zinedine Zidane has started his campaign on a high note even though they dropped points in their opening match of La Liga.

For Vallodolid, they are yet to register their first win of the season after having drawn twice and suffered a defeat thus far.
