Lazio 1–4 Atalanta: Papu Gomez’s double sinks Lazio

Atalanta skipper Papu Gomez has scored a double in the 4-1 over Lazio.

Atalanta have beaten Lazio 4-1 at Stadio Olimpico in the midweek Serie A fixture.

The visitors opened the account in the tenth minute of the game with the help of Robin Gosens.

Atalanta preferred to be the inferior side, allowing Lazio to enjoy more possession and then try to catch them on break.

Indeed, the plans fell in their place as Hans Hateboer and skipper Papu Gomez found the net, thereby putting Atalanta on the driver seat before the half-time whistle.

The home side were livelier in the second half and Felipe Caicedo scored the first goal after was set up by Sergej Milinkovic- Savic. Prior to the goal, Adam Marusic had a shot denied by Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Sportiello.

However, Lazio’s comeback plans were thwarted by Gomez, who completed his brace with a spectacular effort. The 32-year-old found the net from a different and he did it with his left foot.

The goal perhaps crushed the hopes of the home side as they succumbed to 4-1 defeat against La Dea.

Gomez once again took the spotlight for his impressive performance. The Argentine also scored a goal and assisted twice in the 4-2 win against Torino.

As far as Lazio are concerned, it was not the type of the result they would have expected following their win against Cagliari.
