Xavi eyeing three priorities as Barcelona’s new manager

Xavi agrees £5.4m-a-year deal, to replace Setien as Barcelona manager

The legendary midfielder has been appointed as the new manager of Blaugrana.

Barcelona have confirmed the appointment of Xavi as their new manager on a three-year deal.

There are huge expectations on Xavi’s shoulder as his former club are currently in deep crisis.

According to Sport via Barca Blaugranes, the legendary midfielder has prioritised three things at the Nou Camp.

Firstly, Xavi wants to rejuvenate the club’s medical team, which has been a letdown in recent years.

The recurring injury problems for a host of players, especially in this season, has questioned Barca’s medical team.

Xavi also wants some of his backroom staff at Al Sadd to accompany him at the Nou Camp. Former club legends like Victor Valdes and Carles Puyol are also said to be on Xavi’s wishlist.

Finally, the Spanish gaffer is keen on attacking reinforcements, especially wingers. Xavi appears to be happy to work with injury-prone Ousmane Dembele, with the Catalan giants ready to offer him a new contract.

Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling is a primary target for Xavi, with the Englishman currently being down the pecking order of Pep Guardiola.

Sterling had earlier stated that he would not hesitate to move away from the Etihad if he failed to get regular minutes.

Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman is also on the transfer wishlist of Xavi and the French winger appears to be reluctant on agreeing to a new contract with the Bundesliga giants.

Bayern could be forced to sell Coman next summer if they fail to agree on an extension, with his current deal expiring in 2023.
