Bayern Munich look all set to sign Manchester City star, Leroy Sane, as they save Philippe Coutinho’s shirt number for him in the next season.

The Mirror have reported that Bayern Munich are in their quest to for Leroy Sane transfer from Man City, and this gesture does seem significant in the star-studded forward line, comprising of Robert Lewandowski, Ivan Perišić, Thomas Müller, Serge Gnabry, Joshua Zirkzee, Kingsley Coman and Jann-Fiete Arp.

It is rumoured that Bayern have saved the number 10 shirt for Sane next season – the number was previously worn by Arjen Robben, and it belongs to Philippe Coutinho in current team. As the future of Coutinho is not secure in Bundesliga, it might go to Leroy Sane if he joins Bundesliga champion this summer.

Though the shirt numbers mostly doesn’t really matter, but they’ve almost become a brand or an identity in themselves. There are stories about players asking certain numbers, or certain number at some clubs can carry a legacy, depending on who wore it in the past.

He’s working his way back from the injury, so it could be kind of risk for Bayern to spend a lot of money on him before seeing him back in action.

The report goes on to point out that Bayern haven’t agreed a deal for him yet, although he only has one year left on his Man City contract, so that does make it sound more likely that he might move. Time will tell if Sane does make the return to Germany, but it is certain that Coutinho is moving back to .
