Liverpool have been handed a major injury boost ahead of next weekend’s Premier League clash against Chelsea at Anfield.

Defender Andy Robertson has been sidelined with an ankle ligament injury he picked up against Athletic Bilbao during a pre-season friendly at the start of this month.

The defender missed the season opener against Norwich City, and he is set to be sidelined for Saturday’s game against Burnley as well.

However, he will be back for the crunch clash against Thomas Tuchel’s side next weekend, and his return could not have been timed any better.

The Reds will be up against a fantastic attacking unit when they take on Chelsea, and they could certainly use their best left-back and that game.

Robertson is not just the best left-back at Liverpool; he is undoubtedly the best left-back in the Premier League.

Apart from his defensive qualities, he is exceptional going forward, and his absence would have been a significant blow against a top team like the Blues.

Greek defender Kostas Tsimikas has been filling in for the Scottish international so far, and he was pretty impressive against Norwich.

Tsimikas was brought in as a backup option for Robertson last season, but he has had very few opportunities to prove himself.

It will be interesting to see how the defender performs against Burnley on Saturday.

Tsimikas will probably be disappointed if he is dropped against Chelsea after two impressive performances. But there is no doubt that Robertson is vastly superior, and he will have deserved the starting berth.
