Lyon include the option to buy permanently in Tanguy Ndombele loan deal

French Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyon have sealed the loan signing of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele.

The Frenchman is Spurs’ club-record signing, having joined in the 2019 summer transfer window for £55million from Lyon but is now set to head back after two-and-a-half years.

He has struggled to impose himself at the London club and has struggled to convince Antonio Conte

The 25-year-old was initially linked with Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain, but Lyon have won the race for his signature, having lost first-choice central midfield option Bruno Guimaraes to Newcastle in a £30m deal.

According to French publication L’Equipe via Tribal Football, Lyon pushed hard for a permanent option to be included in the deal, meaning that Ndombele’s Tottenham career potentially ends after 91 games and 10 goals in all competitions.

The midfielder was spotted snapping with Lyon fans on Monday ahead of his medical and eventual unveiling.
