Benjamin Pavard open to Chelsea transfer

Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard has been linked with a move away from the club.

The 26-year-old Frenchman is reportedly open to a move to Chelsea if the Blues come forward with a concrete offer via Talksport.

Chelsea desperately need defenders, and Pavard could be a useful option for them.

The Frenchman is an excellent passer from the back and could be the ideal long-term alternative for Thiago Silva.

Chelsea have replaced Antonio Rudiger with the signing of Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, and Pavard could be Andreas Christensen’s replacement at Stamford Bridge.

Bayern Munich have brought in Matthijs de Ligt this summer, and that could eat into Pavard’s game time next season. Furthermore, the Germans have brought in Noussair Mazraoui as well.

The Frenchman needs to play regularly with the World Cup coming up, and leaving Bayern could be in his best interests.

Pavard can also operate as a right back because of his quality on the ball, and his versatility will be a bonus for Thomas Tuchel.

It will be interesting to see if the Blues decide to move for the Frenchman.

They have been linked with Milan Škriniar as well.

The Blues recently missed out on Jules Koundé after Barcelona hijacked the move with a late approach. They had agreed on a fee with Sevilla for the player, but the defender’s determination to join Barcelona left the Premier League side empty-handed in the end.
