Manchester United have been linked with the Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho for a while now. However, his asking price could make it difficult for the Red Devils to sign him this summer. The Premier League giants have now identified a cheaper alternative to the England international. As per MEN, former Manchester City player Rabbi Matondo is thought to be a target for Manchester United now.
The youngster is highly rated across Europe and he could be a decent addition to Solskjaer’s attack just like Dan James last summer. Matondo is currently with Schalke and United should have no problems tempting the German side into a sale. It will be interesting to see if they make their move for the 19-year-old in the coming weeks.
Matondo’s arrival will add pace and flair to the United attack. He would also add some much needed depth to the wide areas. James is the only natural winger in the first team setup and Solskjaer needs to bring in more options for that position. Matondo has not been at his best for Schalke this season and the German outfit might look to cash in if the offer is right.
Despite his form this season, the youngster is a talented player who will only improve with experience. Solskjaer might be able to bring out the best in him.
If United can unlock his potential, it would be a good long term investment for them.
Schalke paid £11.3m on deadline day in the 2019 January transfer window for Matondo and they will be looking to make a profit if they are to part with the player this summer.
