Manchester United striker Anthony Martial has appeared to make it clear that he wants to be given a chance to prove himself at Manchester United next season.

The Frenchman endured a disastrous campaign last term, for both Man United in the first half of the year and then on loan at Sevilla. Having struggled under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the first half of last season, Martial was sent on loan to Sevilla in January.

But he failed to live up to the initial hype that greeted his transfer to Spain, ending the season with just two goals in his appearances for both clubs combined.

With Erik ten Hag now in charge at Old Trafford, Martial has been given a lifeline to prove himself again. The French World Cup winner joined United as the world’s most expensive teenager but has never consistently lived up to that billing and his time at Old Trafford.

Although he is part of the players expected to be moved on at Old Trafford this season, he has come out fighting, hinting that he wants to stay in Premier League. The Frenchman made it clear that he believes he will head back to United under Ten Hag when pre-season begins.

“Now I feel very well. I was able to recover from the injury, which was a complicated injury that required a reasonable recovery time, but now I’m much better. I have been very careful to be able to return and be available to the team as soon as possible, which is why I decided to come to Sevilla,” Martial told ABC Sevilla.

“I’m working on it [to show his best version from now until the end of the season]. I came to be able to enjoy football again after a long time without playing. I know I can be at a higher level, and I work for it, but first, the injury, then the adaptation to a new club and a new city, is being difficult for me because of the language barrier.

Meanwhile, according to the Athletic via Daily Express, ten Hag intends to look closely at Anthony Martial in pre-season.
