Arsenal 0-3 Liverpool: Jota scores second-half brace to resurrect top-four hopes

Liverpool picked up a 3-0 win over Arsenal in the Premier League earlier tonight.

The Reds have now resurrected their top-four hopes once again and it will be interesting to see if Jurgen Klopp’s side can build on this performance and qualify for the Champions League next season.

4th placed Chelsea were beaten by West Brom earlier today and the Reds did well to capitalise on their slip up and close the gap to just two points for the 4th place.

The Reds were dominant from start to finish and Arsenal struggled to keep a hold of the ball.

Liverpool could have easily scored in the first half with the likes of James Milner missing quality opportunities.

Right-back Trent Alexander Arnold produced a stunning display for the Reds. The young defender answered his critics in style after he was left out of the England squad during the international break.

The Liverpool defender was at the heart of everything positive from the visitors and he created numerous chances for his side.

Meanwhile, Diogo Jota continued his blistering run of form with two goals in the second half. The Portuguese international was left on the bench after his exploits during the international break and he came on in the second half to have a devastating impact on the game.

Mohamed Salah scored the only other goal in the game.

The likes of Sadio Mane had the opportunity to increase Liverpool’s advantage in the second half but the Senegalese attacker lacked sharpness in the final third.

Mikel Arteta will be disappointed with the defensive performance of his side especially with the likes of Gabriel who kept giving the ball away and was easily beaten by Salah for the second goal of the game.

Arsenal drop down to 9th in the table with 42 points after tonight’s defeat.
