Arsenal agree deal to sign Matt Turner

Emirates Stadium-Arsenal

Arsenal have agreed on a deal to sign the New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner at the end of this season.

According to a report from The Athletic, the 27-year-old United States international will cost around $7 million.

It seems that the Premier League side are preparing for the potential exit of German international goalkeeper Bernd Leno, who has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of Aaron Ramsdale.

The 29-year-old German has been linked with a move away from Arsenal, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Turner has been outstanding for Major League Soccer side New England Revolution since joining the club in 2016, and he has 13 international caps to his name as well.

The 27-year-old could be the ideal backup option for Ramsdale.

Meanwhile, Leno is thought to be keen on a loan move away from Arsenal this month, but it is highly unlikely that the Gunners will weaken their goalkeeping department midway through the season.

Ramsdale is the only reliable shot-stopper at the club right now apart from the German, and Leno might have to stay put until the summer before getting his move.

Turner will be hoping to push Ramsdale for a first-team berth next season, and it remains to be seen whether the United States international is able to prove his quality in the Premier League.
