Tottenham Hotspur keen on Bayern Munich goalkeeper Alexander Nubel

Tottenham borrow £175m to ease coronavirus impact

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing the German goalkeeper Alexander Nubel.

According to a report from Goal.com, the Bayern Munich goalkeeper is on their radar, and the Premier League side will look to sign him at the end of this season.

The 25-year-old is currently on loan at French club Monaco and Tottenham have been impressed with his performances.

The Londoners recently agreed on a new contract with club captain Hugo Lloris, but they will still need to bring in a quality long term replacement for the French international.

Tottenham signed Pierluigi Gollini at the start of the season, and signing Alexander Nubel in the summer could sort out their goalkeeping position for the foreseeable future.

Meanwhile, the German goalkeeper is contracted to Bayern Munich until the summer of 2025, and it will be interesting to see if the German club are willing to sell him in the summer.

That said, the 25-year-old will want to play regular first-team football soon, and he’s unlikely to get that opportunity as long as Manuel Neuer continues to perform at a high level at the Allianz Arena.

Recently the goalkeeper’s agent Stefan Backs has claimed that if Neuer signs a new deal at Bayern Munich, Nubel will have to take a different path in his career and join another club in search of regular first-team football.

Nubel recently told Kicker: “What I can no longer imagine is coming back and not getting more games.”

Nubel’s agent Stefan Backs has also admitted to Sport 1: “If Manuel is extended and is still untouchable in two years at the age of 37, then we will find a solution. Then Alexander will take a different path.”
