The Czech striker stole the headlines after scoring a wonder goal against Scotland in Euro 2020
Patrik Schick is the man of the hour following his heroics for the Czech Republic in Euro 2020 against Scotland that included a stunning goal from halfway through the pitch.
The 25-year-old helped Czech wrap up a comprehensive win at Hampden Park by scoring two goals.
Perhaps, Schick turned out to be a target for Arsenal during Unai Emery‘s tenure as the Spaniard favoured him to be a replacement for Danny Welbeck.
However, in hindsight, the Gunners must be regretting not paying heed to Emery’s words.
There could be doubts about his potential by just witnessing his heroics in a single game like last night, but it is not the case for the Czech striker.
Ever since he moved away from Roma, Schick had enjoyed two impressive spells in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig and his current club Bayer Leverkusen. In the last two seasons alone, the former Giallorossi star has racked up a total of 23 goals combinedly for Leipzig and Leverkusen across all competitions.
Elsewhere, Arsenal reached new lows last season under Mikel Arteta and especially, their attack looked stale to the hilt. A player of Schick’s calibre could have added more bite to the attack, but that wasn’t the case.
Following the heroics against Scots, all eyes would be on Schick and how he is going to perform for the rest of the tournament. Meanwhile, the North Londoners could be assessing their options for next season.
