Brighton edge past Leeds United, as Maupay scores the winner

Neil Maupay-Brighton

Leeds United crashed to a 1-0 defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League earlier tonight.

Neil Maupay scored the only goal of the game on the 17th minute and Brighton managed to defend their advantage for the remainder of the game.

Brighton have now picked up their third win of the season and they are out of the relegation zone in the 16th place with 17 points.

Meanwhile the defeat tonight leaves Leeds United on the 12th position in the Premier League and they will have to improve a lot if they want to secure their place in the top half of the table.

Maupay scored a brilliant team goal and Brighton controlled the first half against Leeds United.

The underdogs could have easily doubled their advantage on the 27th minute when Leandro Trossard’s cross hit the bar after taking a deflection from Luke Ayling.

Robert Sanchez produced an excellent display in between the posts to deny the likes of Liam Cooper and Jack Harrison. Tyler Roberts came close to scoring the equaliser in the second half but he was denied by Sanchez as well.

Leeds United will travel to Newcastle in their next game and it will be interesting to see if they can bounce back with strong results away from home.

Meanwhile, Brighton host Fulham in their next outing and they will fancy their chances against the struggling London side in their own backyard.
