Frankfurt 1–1 Dortmund: Reyna’s brilliant strike earns Dortmund a draw

Dortmund have dropped points for three consecutive games.

Borussia Dortmund have picked up a hard-fought draw against Eintracht Frankfurt as Gio Reyna scored the equaliser in the second half.

Frankfurt put early pressure on the visitors after Daichi Kamada opened the account, benefiting from Hinteregger’s brilliant through ball. The hosts could have easily doubled the lead were it not for Aymen Barkok’s misfired shot at the half-hour mark.

Dortmund found the equaliser when teenage sensation Giovanni Reyna scored a thunderous long-range goal, giving no chance for Frankfurt’s goalkeeper.

The game was another instance where the USMNT prodigy showed his real class, putting in an overall impressive display.

However, Die Borussen continue to disappoint as a team as they have dropped points for three games in a row. Lucian Favre’s men showed early glitches, which Frankfurt didn’t fail to capitalise on.

Starting with the defeat against FC Koln, Dortmund have picked back to back draws including the one against Lazio in the Champions League earlier this week.

Erling Haaland was a huge miss in the game today as Dortmund lacked a focal point in the attack and also the Norwegian’s killer instinct inside the opponent’s penalty box. It remains to be seen how Dortmund will cope up with the absence of Haaland in the coming games.

Dortmund are currently third in the Bundesliga table after today’s result and Bayer Leverkusen have the opportunity to leapfrog them if they win their tomorrow’s fixture against Schalke FC.
