Burnley

Burnley will continue their quest for Premier League survival when they welcome Manchester United to Turf Moor this Tuesday.

The hosts come into this game on the back of a goalless draw with fellow relegation strugglers Newcastle on Friday.

The result leaves Sean Dyche’s side without a league win since October. Since they defeated Brentford 3-1 in October, the Clarets have gone ten games without a win (D6, L4). That run even included an embarrassing 2-1 loss to Championship side Huddersfield in the FA Cup.

Since returning to the Premier League in the 2015/16 season, Burnley have finished 16th, 7th, 15th, 10th and most recently 17th. This season, their chances of playing another season in the Premier League is looking increasingly slim with each game.

They are currently sitting bottom of the table with only 13 points, although they have four games in hand.

Given the quality, form, and transfer activities of other relegation rivals, it will take a huge miracle for Sean Dyche’s side to avoid a drop this season.

They have a dismal H2H record against United of late, with just one win in their last 14 clashes (D4, L9).

Possible Burnley starting line-up

Nick Pope; Connor Roberts, James Tarkowski, Ben Mee, Charlie Taylor; Dwight McNeil, Ashley Westwood, Josh Brownhill, Maxwel Cornet; James Rodriguez, Wout Weghorst.

Injured: Matej Vydra and Johann Berg Gudmundsson

Doubtful: Ashley Barnes and Charlie Taylor

Manchester United

After their embarrassing loss to Middlesbrough in the FA Cup, Manchester will look to get back to winning ways when they travel to Burnley on Tuesday.

The Red Devils were knocked out of the FA Cup by Chris Wilder’s Middlesbrough in midweek, losing on penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal time.

The result means that United are now out of every cup competition this season except the UCL. They now have to take serious their quest for a top-four finish, beginning with a win in this game.

Ralf Rangnick’s side broke into the top four just before the winter break, after they defeated West Ham United 1-0, thanks to a late goal by Marcus Rashford.

They are currently nine points behind third-placed Chelsea and have shown signs of consistency since the departure of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Despite a supposed lack of cohesion and poor form, the Old Trafford side have lost just one of their last ten PL games (W6, D1). Only the current top two sides have collected more points than they did in that period.

They will fancy their chances of getting another win in this game.

Possible Manchester United starting line-up

David de Gea; Diogo Dalot, Rafael Varane, Harry Maguire, Alex Telles; Scott McTominay, Fred; Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes, Anthony Elanga; Cristiano Ronaldo.

Injured: Eric Bailly

Doubtful: Victor Lindelof

Unavailable: Mason Mount
