Newcastle United

Newcastle will continue their quest to avoid relegation when they welcome Everton to St. James’ Park on Tuesday.

Eddie Howe‘s side are currently sitting in 19th place with just 15 points, having won just two PL games all season (D2, L9). They are one point behind Norwich City in 17th, having played a game more.

Beating Leeds United 1-0 just before the winter break would have given them some boost and they will come into this tie confident of getting a result.

After spending £90 million in the January transfer window, they now look ready to push for another season in the top flight.

Given that they are unbeaten in their last three PL games, they will fancy their chances of getting maximum points here.

Possible Newcastle starting line-up

Martin Dubravka; Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schar, Dan Burn, Matt Targett; Joe Willock, Jonjo Shelvey, Bruno Guimaraes; Ryan Fraser, Chris Wood, Allan Saint-Maximin.

Injured: Isaac Hayden, Callum Wilson, Federico Fernandez,

Doubtful: Joelinton, Paul Dummett, Jamaal Lascelles

Suspended: None

Everton

After starting his Everton reign with a 4-1 win over Brentford in the FA Cup, Frank Lampard will look to make it two wins in two games on Tuesday when he travels with his squad to Tyneside.

The former Chelsea boss has been tasked with overturning Everton’s fortunes and has begun in the best possible way. His new side are currently sitting in 16th place, just three points off the relegation zone.

After seeing his side score four goals in his opening game, he will be confident of getting a result here. Also, the acquisition of Donny van de Beek from Manchester United and Dele Alli from Tottenham would give the Toffees the control in midfield that has been missing in their recent Premier League games.

But given that Everton have won just one away game all season (D3, L6), Lampard will be under no illusions that there is much work to be done to overturn Everton’s form and to take maximum points from this game.

Possible Everton starting line-up

Jordan Pickford; Mason Holgate, Michael Keane, Yerry Mina; Seamus Coleman, Allan, Andre Gomes, Vitalii Mykolenko; Andros Townsend, Richarlison, Demarai Gray.

Injured: Ben Godfrey, Tom Davies, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Fabian Delph

Doubtful: Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Suspended: None
