Chelsea have been hit with two FA charges due to the behaviour of their players in their 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

Thomas Tuchel‘s side are accused of failing to control their players in their Premier League match against Liverpool.

Chelsea players argued with the referee during the match, and were furious with the referee after he had shown defender Reece James a red card for handball.

The England defender was shown a straight red card for deliberately handling the ball on the line.

Before giving out the red card, Taylor went over to the video assistant review monitor to look at the replay of the incident.

But the Chelsea players disagreed with the decision and were all over the referee, protesting the decision.

Their behaviour in the match has now led to two charges from the Football Association, who allege that their argument with referee Taylor caused the game to be extended beyond the half-time whistle.

In a statement, the FA said: ‘Chelsea FC has been charged with two breaches of FA Rule E20.1 following their Premier League fixture against Liverpool FC on Saturday [28/08/21].

‘It is alleged that Chelsea FC failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 48th minute of the first half and following the half-time whistle.

‘Chelsea FC has until Friday [03/09/21] to provide a response to this charge.’

Kai Havertz gave Chelsea the lead in a tight encounter at Anfield before Mohamed Salah equalised from the penalty spot after Reece James was penalised for a handball in the area.
