Manchester United were thrashed 5-0 by Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under tremendous pressure with regards to his future at Old Trafford.

There have been speculations that the Premier League giants could look to bring in a replacement soon and the likes of Antonio Conte have been mentioned as potential targets.

According to the ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano, the club hierarchy is currently holding internal talks regarding their managerial situation and a decision on how to handle the crisis will be taken in the near future.

Apparently, Antonio Conte is prepared to talk to Manchester United about their project but the two parties are yet to establish any sort of official contact.

Conte is certainly one of the best managers in the world and he helped Inter Milan win the Italian league title last season.

The former Inter manager has the experience of managing in the Premier League as well and he helped Chelsea win a Premier League title during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Conte is a proven winner across multiple clubs and he would be a massive upgrade on Solskjaer if Manchester United managed to pull off his appointment.

It remains to be seen how the situation unfolds over the next few weeks. The likes of Zinedine Zidane have been mentioned as a target as well.

Manchester United will have to be careful with their next managerial appointment and they cannot afford any experiments right now.

The Red Devils have a quality squad at their disposal and a club of their stature will be expected to challenge for the Premier League title.

Bringing in a proven winner at the top level should be their priority right now and it will be interesting to see who they end up appointing as the new manager.
