Celtic 1-3 Milan: Hauge scores his maiden goal as Milan claims 3-points

Milan have started their Europa League campaign on a winning note.

AC Milan have defeated Celtic 3-1 in their opening game of Europa League at Celtic Park.

The Rossoneri opened their account in the 14th minute as Rade Krunic scored a perfect header after a slick cross from Samu Castillejo. The goal marked the first for Bosnian since he made his switch to San Siro last summer.

Brahim Diaz doubled the lead right before the half time, with his goal being assisted by Theo Hernandez. Zlatan Ibrahimovic found Theo from the left flank and the French left-back, in turn, spotted Diaz’s blind run behind Celtic’s defence.

The second half completely belonged to the hosts as they gave little chance for Milan. Celtic were perhaps rewarded with a goal in the 76th minute after Moi found his header right from Ryan Christie’s cross.

The Hoops pushed for the equalizer in the final stage of the game but all the efforts went in vain after Milan scored their third goal in injury time.

Jens Petter Hauge, who came off the bench, is the scorer this time after producing a composed finish past Celtic goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas. It was the first Europa League start for Hauge and he made it memorable by scoring his debut goal. The highly-rated Norwegian youngster moved to Milan earlier this summer on a five-year deal.

Milan continue to impress under Stefano Pioli as they are still undefeated in this season. They edged out their rivals Inter in the derby last weekend and now are off to a winning start in Europa League.

Meanwhile, Neil Lennon looks to haven’t found a way to end Celtic’s bad streak in Europe.
