Chelsea have been linked with a number of centre-backs in recent weeks and the latest name linked with a move to Stamford Bridge is of the French international defender, Presnel Kimpembe.

According to a report from the Guardian, the Blues are now targeting the Paris Saint Germain defender after agreeing on a fee of around £33.8 million pounds with Napoli for Kalidou Koulibaly.

The Senegalese international is all set to move to Stamford Bridge this summer and it seems that Thomas Tuchel is not done strengthening his defence yet.

Chelsea lost the likes of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen earlier on in the summer and they could end up losing Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso before the transfer window closes.

It is clear that they will have to bring in multiple defensive reinforcements this summer and Kimpembe could be a quality addition alongside Koulibaly.

Paris Saint Germain have recently signed Milan Skriniar from Inter Milan and therefore Kimpembe is likely to drop down the pecking order at the French club next year. A player of his quality deserves to play regular first-team football and Chelsea could provide him with the exit route.

The report from Guardian adds that Tuchel is keen on signing three centre-backs this summer and the Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt is on his radar as well.

The Chelsea manager knows all about Kimpembe, having worked with him during their time together at PSG and he rates the Frenchman highly.

Furthermore, Chelsea defender Thiago Silva is also a fan of the 26-year-old PSG defender.

It will be interesting to see if the World Cup winner can adapt to the Premier League and make an immediate impact at Stamford Bridge next season.

Some other defenders linked with a move to Chelsea this summer are Jules Kounde and Gleison Bremer.
