Chelsea owner Todd Boehly reportedly had a meeting with Cristiano Ronaldo‘s agent Jorge Mendes in Portugal last week regarding a move for the 37-year-old.

Ronaldo has one year left on his contract at Old Trafford, and he has been linked with a move away from Manchester United this summer.

The Portuguese international returned to Manchester United last summer and had an impressive season with them. Ronaldo ended up scoring 24 goals across all competitions, but it was not enough to guide Manchester United back into the top four.

According to reports, the Portuguese international is concerned about the lack of transfer activity at the Premier League club, and he could consider a move away from Old Trafford.

Meanwhile, Chelsea recently revamped the club hierarchy, and the long-serving director Marina Granovskaia has left the club.

It is believed that club owner Boehly is currently the interim sporting director at Chelsea and is looking into transfers this summer.

It’ll be interesting to see if the Blues decide to pursue a move for Ronaldo, having spoken to his agent earlier this month period.

The 37-year-old is one of the best players in the world, and he deserves to play at the highest level.

Chelsea can offer him Champions League football, and they have a squad competitive enough to challenge the likes of Manchester City as well.

While the Premier League champions have improved their squad significantly this summer, cross-time rivals Manchester United are still monitoring their targets and have yet to agree on a deal.

The Red Devils are thought to be keen on improving their midfield options with the signings of Frenkie de Jong and Christian Eriksen.

Ajax winger Antony has also been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Ronaldo was the top goal scorer for Manchester United last season, and if he decides to move on this summer, it could be a blow for the Red Devils.

It remains to be seen whether Manchester United can bring in the necessary reinforcements and convince Ronaldo that Old Trafford is the ideal place for him to fulfil his ambitions.
